Abstract:
Synchronous electric motor field excitation by a direct current or an alternating current enables a single main VVVF inverter to operate a plurality of synchronous electric motors having different numbers of rotations. The coils of the rotor (32) of a synchronous electric motor (30) are formed as two-phase coils. When the rotation speed of the rotor (32) is different from a synchronous speed, an excitation inverter (36) calculates necessary current and phase from the current values of a rotor position detector (35) and of each phase, applies an AC voltage corresponding to a slip frequency to the coils of the rotor, and drives each of the motors to generate a desired torque or output.
