An electric water heater, comprising a water tank (10), a first sensor (20), a second sensor (30), a third sensor (40), a heating device (50), and a controller (60). The water tank (10) comprises a water inlet end (11) and a water outlet end (13), and the water tank (10) is used for holding and storing water. The first sensor (20) is used for detecting first information about output water flow, which changes with time, at the water outlet end (13). The second sensor (30) is used for detecting second information about the output water temperature, which changes with time, at the water outlet end (13). The third sensor (40) is used for measuring the input water temperature at the water inlet end (11). The controller (60) is connected to the first sensor (20), the second sensor (30), the third sensor (40), and the heating device (50), so as to calculate heat loss caused by water output of the water tank (10) according to the first information, the second information, and the input water temperature, and calculate a heating temperature according to the heat loss. The controller (60) controls the heating device (50) to heat the water stored in the water tank (10) according to the heating temperature. Also provided is a control method for the electric water heater. The electric water heater and control method therefor are energy-saving, intelligent, and convenient.
