Title:
ELECTRICAL DISCHARGE MACHINE AND ELECTRICAL DISCHARGE MACHINING METHOD
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2013/121586
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
In order to detect that an electrode has penetrated a work in which the difference between the maximum value of a discharge voltage during discharge and the discharge voltage after the electrode has penetrated the work is small, the electrical discharge machine in the present invention is configured to move the electrode (1a) to a command depth (188) and to machine a hole in the work (W) while applying a voltage between the electrode (1a) and the work and generating an electrical discharge, wherein the electrical discharge machine is provided with: an electrical discharge voltage detector (7) for detecting the minimum voltage of the discharge every predetermined period during the execution of hole machining, and a penetration detector (6) for concluding that the electrode (1a) has penetrated the work (W) when a state in which the minimum voltage detected by the electrical discharge voltage detector (7) is higher than the penetration determination voltage (181) has been maintained no less than the penetration determination maintenance time (182).
