Abstract:
Provided is an electrical discharge machining device for distinguishing abnormal electrical discharges that arise from instantaneous electrical discharges from abnormal electrical discharges that do not arise from instantaneous electrical discharges and performing the appropriate control in the respective situations. The present invention is an electrical discharge machining device for machining a workpiece by generating electrical discharges between an electrode and the workpiece, the device being provided with: a no-load period-detecting means for detecting no-load periods of the inter-electrode voltage between the electrode and the workpiece; an instantaneous electrical discharge-identifying means for comparing the no-load period detected by the no-load period-detecting means and a previously set period and determining whether or not the electrical discharge is an instantaneous electrical discharge; a voltage-detecting means for detecting the inter-electrode voltage; an abnormal electrical discharge-identifying means for comparing a value determined from the voltage detected by the voltage-detecting means with a previously determined value and determining whether or not the electrical discharge is a normal electrical discharge; an electrical discharge state-identifying means for identifying the electrical discharge state on the basis of the determination results of the instantaneous electrical discharge-identifying means and the determination results of the abnormal electrical discharge-identifying means; and a machining condition control means for controlling the machining conditions on the basis of the electrical discharge state identified by the electrical discharge state-identifying means.
