Abstract:
An electrical discharge machining device (1) is provided with: an electrode (2) facing a workpiece (W); a shaft feed drive unit (3) for causing the electrode (2) to move; a voltage/current impression unit (4) for impressing a voltage between the electrode (2) and the workpiece (W), generating electrical discharge, and passing a current between the electrode (2) and the workpiece (W); a shaft feed control unit (5) for causing the shaft feed drive unit (3) to perform a jump operation during a machining operation; and a machining-condition-setting-changing unit (10) for setting the voltage impressed between the electrode (2) and the workpiece (W) and the current passed between the electrode (2) and the workpiece (W) by the voltage/current impression unit (4). The machining-condition-setting-changing unit (10) assesses whether the electrical discharge between the electrode (2) and the workpiece (W) has stabilized after completion of the jump operation, and, for at least part of the duration until the electrical discharge is assessed to have stabilized, sets the voltage and/or the current to conditions under which electrical discharge is more readily generated than when the electrical discharge machining is being carried out.
