Abstract:

In an electrical power steering apparatus (100), steering assistance is provided by means of transmitting via a belt the torque of a drive pulley coaxially coupled to the rotational shaft (21) of an electric motor to a driven pulley coaxially coupled to a rotating member of a steering apparatus. A belt tension adjustment mechanism (A), which adjusts the tension of the belt, is provided to the electrical power steering apparatus (100). The belt tension adjustment mechanism (A) includes a guide surface (14a) and engagement surface (22a) which engage with each other and are formed on mating surfaces of the steering apparatus housing (14) and electrical motor casing (22), and further includes a connector (40) which allows relative movement of the engagement surface (22a) along the guide surface (14a) by means of the connecting force that connects the housing (14) and casing (22) when the guide surface (14a) and engagement surface (22a) are in a state of engagement. The guide surface (14a) inclines from the axial direction of the rotational shaft (21) by a predetermined amount (θ).
