Abstract:
The SOC of an electricity storage device installed in an electrically driven vehicle is controlled so that the SOC does not fall outside SOC control ranges (151, 152). When an estimated SOC value falls to a lower control limit value (SOCl) during the running of the vehicle, an electric power generation mechanism installed in the vehicle starts to charge the electricity storage device. In cases where there is a possibility of a reduction in the performance of the electricity storage device, that is, when the temperature of the electricity storage device is low and/or when the electricity storage device is deteriorated, the lower control limit value (SOCl) is increased to a level higher than that in a normal state. As a result, deterioration in the drivability of the hybrid vehicle and deterioration in the starting ability of the engine, which are due to the short of the electric power outputted from the electricity storage device, can be avoided.
