This electrically operated valve is configured such that, when foreign matter is caught in a valve opening (13), the friction resistance between a needle valve (3) and guide holes (14, 21c) is suppressed to prevent the needle valve (3) from being restrained, thereby enabling the needle valve (3) to smoothly move forward and backward. A valve chamber (1A) and the valve opening (13) are provided within a valve body (1). A needle section (31) at the front end of the rod-shaped needle valve (3) is inserted in the valve opening (13). The circular column section (33) of the needle valve (3) is guided by both a body guide hole (14) in the valve body (1) and a drive section guide hole (21c) in a support member (2) while being inserted in the guide holes (14, 21c). The needle valve (3) is driven by a stepping motor (5) such that the needle valve (3) is moved forward and backward by a screw feed mechanism comprising a male thread section (21a) and a female thread section (521a). The clearance between the body guide hole (14) and the circular column section (33) of the needle valve (3) and the clearance between the drive section guide hole (21c) and the circular column section (33) are set to be greater than the clearance between the valve opening (13) and the needle section (31) of the needle valve (3).
