The objective of the present invention is to provide an omnidirectional electro-acoustic converter that is capable of reproducing with high quality and with sufficient volume over a wide frequency band, and which uses a small number of components. This electro-acoustic converter includes two electro-acoustic converting units each comprising: an electro-acoustic converting film including a polymer composite piezoelectric body formed by dispersing piezoelectric particles in a viscoelastic matrix comprising a polymer material that is viscoelastic at room temperature, and two thin-film electrodes laminated onto the two surfaces of the polymer composite piezoelectric body; and a resilient supporting body which is disposed in close contact with one of the main surfaces of the electro-acoustic converting film in such a way as to cause the electro-acoustic converting film to curve to form a curved portion. The two electro-acoustic converting units are disposed with rear surfaces thereof, on the opposite sides to the electro-acoustic converting film, facing one another. The separation d between the curved portions of the electro-acoustic converting films in the two electro-acoustic converting units, and the maximum length L of the curved portions, as viewed in a direction perpendicular to the main surface of the electro-acoustic converting film, satisfy the relationship d≤0.3×L.
