ELECTRO-MAGNETIC SPLINTER BOX
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2022/154679
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
Electro-Magnetic Splinter Box is a device the works on closing underwater valves in a ship's hull. seawater enters the ship through underwater valves for the purpose of cooling, desalination firefighting.. etc. The device will work on closing the mentioned valves in case of any defect. It will be effective as a damage control method. The box is made of stainless steel surrounded by a magnet powered by battery that can work for 7 hours, It sticks on the hull from the outside, and has holes that can be controlled to water in to inspect after the repairs. The device is waterproof. The second use of the device is when there is a hole in the hull from the outside, the device sticks from the inside supported by wooden beams to stop water leakage inside the ship until the hole is covered by divers underwater and then inspected through the controlled holes. This does not take to remove the whole device but it makes it easy to make sure that the repairs are done.

Technical Field

[2 ]Electro-Magnetic Splinter Box is a device the works on closing underwater valves in a ship's hull The second use of the device is when there is a hole in the hull from the outside, the device sticks from the inside supported by wooden beams to stop water leakage inside the ship until the hole is covered by divers underwater and then inspected through the controlled holes this technical for ships(commercial and military)marine side.

Background Art

[3] Electro-Magnetic Splinter Box is made of stainless steel or fiberglass painted with a protective material that makes it last longer. Supported by water-resistant electromagnet technology from all sides. It has a battery that works for 7 hours and is installed in the Electro-Magnetic Splinter Box. It has holes that are controlled to enter water to see after the malfunction has been repaired so that divers do not have to unlock the Electro- Magnetic Splinter Box from the underwater valves. It is easy to install, and it does not need much physical effort. It saves time and effort

Summary of Invention

Advantageous Effects of Invention

[7] Electro-Magnetic Splinter Box is a device the works on closing underwater valves in a ship's hull.

Brief Description of Drawings

[8] Electro-Magnetic Splinter Box and its mechanism to operate is by charging the battery(12) and making sure it is fully charged. The divers then load the device and install it on the hull of the ship covering the underwater valves. The back-up shutdown screw(1 ) is then installed to avoid the battery or any power shortage from the device, and then operate the device so that the magnet(5) will stick to the hull and preventing water from entering the ship from the underwater valves below the ship responsible for entering the sea water for cooling, firefighting and other uses. In the event that the battery runs out, the water-resistant charging wire is connected to the device for the continuity of the magnet's work and the electricity is not cut off from the device. When repair is completed, the power switch to the device is shut down and the backup nail is unlocked.

Description of Embodiments

[10] Electro- Magnetic Splinter Box and its mechanism to operate is by charging the battery and making sure it is fully charged. The divers then load the device and install it on the hull of the ship covering the underwater valves. The back-up shutdown screw is then installed to avoid the battery or any power shortage from the device, and then operate the device so that the magnet will stick to the hull and preventing water from entering the ship from the underwater valves below the ship responsible for entering the sea water for cooling, firefighting and other uses. In the event that the battery runs out, the water-resistant charging wire is connected to the device for the continuity of the magnet's work and the electricity is not cut off from the device. When repair is completed, the power switch to the device is shut down and the backup nail is unlocked.

When using an Electro-Magnetic Splinter Box from within the hull of the ship, it must be certain that there are no materials between the hull of the ship and the device, such as cork or other materials, which hinder magnet sticking to the hull of the ship. The divers then dive under the ship and close the hole with welding; in this case, we do not need to use the back-up shutdown screw so as not to obstruct the welding process. The back-up shutdown screw is used if the hole does not need to be repaired during that period where the device is preventing the water from entering the ship.

Examples

Industrial Applicability

[11] Electro-Magnetic Splinter Box is a device that closes the underwater valves in the hull from below, where the ship takes seawater from these valves for cooling, firefighting and other systems. This device is used to close the above-mentioned valves when there is a failure in the water or pipe drag valve from the sea. This device is effective in forcing the valves to avoid any physical damage to the ship. A stainless steel box surrounded by a magnet with a battery running for 7 hours is attached to the ship's hull from the outside, and has holes that are controlled in entering water for observation after repair of the malfunction All the contents of the device are painted with waterproof material.

The second use, when a hole occurs in the hull from the outside, the device is installed from the inside of the ship, and installed with the braces from the inside, to prevent water from leaking into the ship until divers do the repairs. The repair efficiency is then confirmed by opening the control holes of the device, where it does not require complete disassembly.
