Abstract:
The present invention relates to an electroactive-polymer actuator and to a method for manufacturing same, and particularly, to an electroactive-polymer flexible body having an intelligent structure capable of continuous 3-dimensional morphing, and to a method for producing same. According to the present invention, an electroactive-polymer actuator may be provided that is capable of continuous, real-time flexible morphing along an X-axis, Y-axis, and Z-axis, by forming two or more pairs of surface poles on the surface of an ion-exchange polymer material. Also, according to the present invention, movement may be achieved for a plurality of electroactive-polymer actuators that are capable of continuous, real-time flexible morphing along an X-axis, Y-axis, and Z-axis by forming two pairs of surface poles partitioned into a plurality of regions on the surface of an ion-exchange polymer material, or by connecting a plurality of electroactive-polymer actuators in series or in parallel so as to form one electroactive-polymer actuator. Further, according to the present invention, a method may be provided for manufacturing an electroactive-polymer actuator that is capable of reducing manufacturing time and production costs by enabling an ion-exchange polymer material to be formed into a desired shape and the forming of surface pole patterns to be performed in an automated process. In addition, according to the present invention, a method may be provided for manufacturing an electroactive-polymer actuator at various scales including at the microscale, by enabling manufacture through automated processes and equipment, such as ultra-precision FIB equipment, using typical mechanical processes.
