An electrochemical cell (1) comprises a cell body (10), a plate-shaped metal support (20), and a coating layer (40). The metal support (20) has a side surface (20R) that is contiguous with a first main surface (20S) for supporting the cell body (10). The coating layer (40) is composed of a ceramic material, and covers at least a part of the side surface (20R) of the metal support (20).
