Abstract:
According to the present invention, an electrochemical device which utilizes microorganisms and is able to output sufficient electric power in a short period of time after starting is able to be achieved by means of: an electrochemical device which comprises a first electrode that is provided with a surface part having at least one pore that has an opening, wherein the pore has a conductive site at least on the inner surface thereof, the first electrode has a conduction path that electrically connects the conductive sites of the pores to each other, and each one of the pores holds electron-donating microorganisms of different classification classes, different electron-donating microorganisms in a same classification class, or electron-donating microorganisms that have significantly different average particle diameters; and a method for producing this electrochemical device.
