Abstract:
The present invention provides an electrochemical device which has both high capacity and high durability. This electrochemical device comprises a positive electrode, a negative electrode and a lithium ion-conductive electrolyte; the positive electrode is provided with a positive electrode collector and a positive electrode mixture layer that is supported by the positive electrode collector; the positive electrode mixture layer contains a positive electrode active material that is reversibly doped with anions; the negative electrode is provided with a negative electrode collector and a negative electrode mixture layer that is supported by the negative electrode collector; the negative electrode mixture layer contains a negative electrode active material that is reversibly doped with lithium ions; the negative electrode active material contains hardly-graphitizable carbon; and the ratio of the mass Mp of the positive electrode active material supported by unit area of the positive electrode to the mass Mn of the negative electrode active material supported by unit area of the negative electrode, namely Mp/Mn is from 1.1 to 2.5.
