Abstract:
Provided are: a lithium ion secondary cell with which it is possible to suppress the occurrence of swelling accompanying charging and discharging, and which has exceptional charge/discharge cycle characteristics; and an electrochemical element negative electrode with which it is possible to constitute part of the lithium ion secondary cell. This electrochemical element negative electrode is characterized by having a negative electrode mixture layer on at least one surface of a collector composed of a metal foil, the negative electrode mixture layer containing as a negative-electrode active material a material S that includes Si, and a refractory graphitic carbon material, such that the proportion of the material S is 50-90% by mass, and the proportion of the refractory graphitic carbon material is 10-50% by mass, where the total amount of the negative-electrode active material contained in the negative electrode mixture layer is defined as 100% by mass. This lithium ion secondary cell is characterized by having a positive electrode, a negative electrode, a separator, and a non-aqueous electrolyte, this electrochemical element negative electrode being configured as the negative electrode.
