Abstract:
Provided are: an electrode which is reduced in the electrical resistance; an electric double layer capacitor which uses this electrode; and a method for producing an electrode. This electrode contains a fibrous cellulose and a carbon powder; and the carbon powder is entangled among the fibers of the fibrous cellulose and supported thereby. The fibrous cellulose and the carbon powder are deposited on a piece of filter paper and formed into a sheet. A method for producing an electrode according to the present invention comprises: a dispersion step wherein a carbon powder and a fibrous cellulose are dispersed in a solvent; and a sheet electrode formation step wherein the solvent in the solution obtained in the dispersion step is removed, thereby obtaining a sheet electrode of the carbon powder and the fibrous cellulose.
