Abstract:
This invention provides an electrode catalyst for an electrochemical cell, comprising a metal catalyst having a metal oxidation potential of not less than 0.5 V and not more than 1.5 V and containing a metal involved directly in an electrode reaction. Further, the electrode catalyst comprises an aromatic heterocyclic compound having a six-membered cyclic structure having a heteroatom ,and the heteroatom has a metal coordination capacity not involved directly in the electrode reaction. The aromatic heterocyclic compound is heterogeneously adsorbed and coordinated on the surface of the metal catalyst through the heteroatom.
