Abstract:
In order to prevent damage to a sealing portion, as well as to an electrode, of a high voltage discharge lamp, disclosed is an electrode for a discharge lamp (100), the electrode comprising a rod-shaped portion, one end whereof being sealed with a sealing portion of a discharge lamp light emitting tube, and the other end whereof being positioned within the discharge space of the light emitting tube. The electrode for the discharge lamp (100) is configured such that an unevenness is formed upon the obverse face of the rod-shaped portion (101) by a plurality of grains being present upon the obverse face of the rod-shaped portion (101) having different crystal orientations thereupon, and the obverse face state of each region wherein the grains are present varying respectively by the differences in the crystal orientations.
