An electrode comprising a metal-bearing carbon and a binder polymer, which electrode is used as a counter electrode in a dye sensitized solar cell. The metal borne on carbon is at least one metal selected from the group consisting of Pt, Ru, Co, Ti, Ni, Al and Au. The carbon is, for example, needle-shaped carbon, fullerene, carbon nanotube, conductive carbon black or the like, and the specific surface area thereof is 100 m²/g or greater.
