Abstract:
Provided is an electrode wire for electric discharge machining, the electrode wire being difficult to brake during electric discharge machining and enabling automatic wire threading to be more stable than electric discharge machining using conventional electrode wires for electric discharge machining. An electrode wire for electric discharge machining contains 0.5-0.7 mass% (inclusive) of cerium oxide, the remainder thereof is composed of tungsten and inevitable impurities, the tensile strength thereof at a temperature of 20°C is 3400 N/mm2 or more, and the straightness thereof is 470 mm or more with respect to a length of 500 mm.
