Abstract:
[Problem] To provide an electrode which can be produced inexpensively without using platinum group elements, has catalytic activity (catalytic action), and can be used as an anode or a cathode. [Solution] The present invention provides an electrode 10 which is an alloy thin plate electrode formed from three or more kinds of transition metals selected from among various kinds of transition metals. The alloy thin plate electrode has a porous structure having a plurality of fine channels and formed by compressing a metal powder mixture, obtained by uniformly mixing and dispersing powders of the selected three or more kinds of transition metals, into a thin plate having a thickness of 0.03-0.3 mm, and then firing the same. In the electrode 10, the three or more kinds of transition metals are selected from among various kinds of transition metals such that the combined work function of the selected three or more kinds of transition metals approximates the work function of a platinum group element.
