Abstract:
This electrolysis electrode comprises a conductive base material and a catalyst layer disposed on a surface of the conductive base material, and satisfies at least one of conditions (I) and (II): (I) The catalyst layer contains ruthenium elements and iridium elements, and has a crystallite size of 50-100Å as calculated from a peak observed in a range of 2θ=27° to 28.5° in an XRD spectrum obtained by subjecting the catalyst layer to X-ray diffraction measurement. (II) The catalyst layer contains (i) ruthenium elements, (ii) iridium elements, and (iii) at least one type of metal elements M selected from the group consisting of W, Zn, Mn, Cu, Co, V, Ga, Ta, Ni, Fe, Mo, Nb, and Zr. In the catalyst layer, the mol ratio (ruthenium element / iridium element) of the ruthenium elements and the iridium elements is at least 1.4. In the catalyst layer, the mol ratio (metal element M / ruthenium element) of the metal elements M and the ruthenium elements is 0.06-3.5.
