Abstract:
An electrolyte composition is provided with which it is possible to provide a dye-sensitized solar cell that has excellent photoelectric conversion characteristics and suffers little electrolyte leakage and little deterioration in characteristics which accompanies the leakage with the lapse of time and that has a higher short-circuit current density and a high energy conversion efficiency. The electrolyte composition is characterized by comprising a polymer (A) comprising repeating units represented by formula (1), a combination (B) of iodine and an iodine compound or of bromine and a bromine compound, and an organic solvent. (In formula (1), R1 is a hydrogen atom or methyl; X is a single bond or a divalent linking group; and R2 is a group selected from among formulae (II) to (IV). In formulae (II) to (IV), R3 is a hydrogen atom or a C1-4 alkyl; Ys may be the same or different and each is an oxygen atom or a sulfur atom; a is 0 or 1; b is an integer of 1-3; and * indicates a bond.)
