Abstract:
Disclosed is an electrolyte for fuel cells which is composed of a room temperature molten salt containing an anion expressed as (HX)yX- (wherein X represents one of group 17 elements and y represents a positive real number). In particular, an onium salt formed together with a cation, namely EMI(HF)2.3F is excellent in hydrogen transfer ability, and thus can be preferably used as an electrolyte for fuel cells.
