Abstract:
An electromagnetic wave absorbent that excels in electromagnetic wave absorption characteristics and is thin and lightweight, also excelling in thickness precision, and that is used in contact with or extremely close to a generation source of unwanted electromagnetic waves and finds application in neighboring field usage; and further an electromagnetic wave absorbent having flame retardance imparted thereto according to usage. There is provided an electromagnetic wave absorbent comprising an organic binder and carbon powder of 20 to 110 m2/g specific surface area wherein the content of carbon powder is in the range of 5 to 60 vol%, and provided an electromagnetic wave absorbent further comprising a flame retardant. Still further, there is provided an electromagnetic wave absorbent comprising an electromagnetic wave absorbing layer constituted of the above electromagnetic wave absorbent and, superimposed on one major surface or both major surfaces of the electromagnetic wave absorbing layer, a flame retardant layer containing an organic bonder and a flame retardant.
