Title:
ELECTROMAGNETICALLY INDUCED ANESTHESIA AND SENSORY STIMULATION
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO2002040080
Kind Code:
A3
Abstract:
Sensory stimulation and sensory anesthesia are induced by means of a device (13) which creates a time varying magnetic field which, in turn, creates an electric field in a direction parallel to the nerve (13) and at the nerve so as to cause either depolarization leading to an action potential and subsequent sensory stimulation or hyperpolarization and subsequent blockade of nerve impulses which causes sensory anesthesia.
