Abstract:
According to one aspect of the present invention, an electromechanical brake system for performing a braking operation electromechanically may be provided and comprises: a speed reducer having a plurality of reduction gears; a housing and a housing cover which are coupled to each other so as to accommodate the speed reducer therein; and an actuator having a motor which is mounted to the housing and transmits torque to the speed reducer. The speed reducer includes: a first helical gear provided on an input shaft which receives the torque from the motor and rotates; a second helical gear which, on an intermediate shaft spaced apart from and parallel to the input shaft, is engaged with the first helical gear, and which primarily reduces the rotation speed of the first helical gear; a third helical gear which is coaxial with the second helical gear and provided on the intermediate shaft; and a fourth helical gear which, on an output shaft outputting the torque, is engaged with the third helical gear, and which secondarily reduces the rotation speed of the third helical gear.
