Abstract:
An electron emission element (1) comprises an electrode substrate (2) and a thin film electrode (3), and emits electrons from the thin film electrode (3) by applying voltage between the electrode substrate (2) and the thin film electrode (3). Between the electrode substrate (2) and the thin film electrode (3) at least an electron acceleration layer (4) comprising insulating microparticles (5) is provided. The electrode substrate (2) is provided with recesses and protrusions, and openings (6) are formed in the thin film electrode (3) above the protrusions of the electrode substrate (2).
