Abstract:
The present invention aims to efficiently provide an electron-emitting device which shows similar or improved performance when compared with conventional electron-emitting devices. Such an electron-emitting device comprising a base, an electrode layer formed on the base, an electron-emitting layer formed on the electrode layer, and a control electrode layer arranged to be out of contact with the electron-emitting layer is characterized in that the electron-emitting layer contains an electron emissive material (20, 30) which emits electrons in an electric field and the electron emissive material is a porous body having a network skeleton which is composed of a surface portion containing an electron emissive component (21, 31) and an inner portion which is occupied with i) at least one kind of insulating materials and semi-insulating materials (22), ii) a space (32) or iii) at least one kind of insulating materials and semi-insulating materials and a space.
