Abstract:
Disclosed as an electron tube of the present invention is a photomultiplier tube comprising a glass bulb (5) having a transparent light incident surface (3), a conductive layer (21) arranged on the inner side of the light incident surface (3), and a photoelectric surface (23) which is arranged on the conductive layer (21) and discharges photoelectrons when irradiated with a light entering from the outside through the glass bulb (5) and the conductive layer (21). The conductive layer (21) is composed of a metal film (21a) which is formed on the light incident surface (3) and made of a platinum group metal and a metal conductor (21b) formed along the light incident surface as a linear pattern. With such a constitution, the electron tube is capable of maintaining a sufficient optical sensitivity even in a low temperature environment. Also disclosed is a method for manufacturing such an electron tube.
