Disclosed are an electronic cigarette and a control method for matching a battery rod component and an atomizer component of same. The electronic cigarette comprises a laser recognition component, a battery rod component, and an atomizer component joined to the battery rod component. The laser recognition component comprises an information section, a laser transceiver, and a control module. The information section comprises a groove-protrusion combination for identifying product information. The information section is provided on a surface of one of the battery rod component and the atomizer component. The laser transceiver is provided at a position, which corresponds to a side opposite the information section, on the other of the battery rod component and the atomizer component. When the atomizer component and the battery rod component are joined, the laser transceiver is aligned with the information section, the information section reflects original laser light emitted by the laser transceiver back to the laser transceiver, and the control module determines, according to the reflected laser light received by the laser transceiver, whether the atomizer component and the battery rod component match. Low efficiency and safety hazards because a battery rod component and an atomizer component do not match can be avoided.
