Abstract:

[Problem] To provide an electronic control device equipped with a function for diagnosing short-circuit malfunctions in an inverter FET by means of a FET short-circuit detection unit and responding appropriately to the diagnosis result, and for diagnosing whether there is a malfunction in the FET short-circuit detection unit, without an increase in cost; and to provide an electric power steering device equipped with this electronic control device. [Solution] An electronic control device for controlling via a micro controller unit (MCU) the driving of a motor by means of an inverter comprising a bridge formed by upper and lower FETs, said electronic control device being equipped with: a FET short-circuit detection unit that detects a short-circuit malfunction in the upper and lower FETs on the basis of the each connection point voltage of the upper and lower FETs; and a detection unit malfunction diagnostic function for detecting a malfunction in the FET short-circuit detection unit. The detection unit malfunction diagnostic function diagnoses malfunctions in the FET short-circuit detection unit at startup, and turns off the upper and lower FETs when a malfunction of the FET short-circuit detection unit is detected. When no malfunction of the FET short-circuit detection unit is detected, the FET short-circuit detection unit diagnoses malfunctions in the upper and lower FETs.
