Abstract:
[Problem] To provide an electronic data conversion system and conversion method for extracting characters from a photograph or illustration contained in a document file or an electronic book and preserving the characters in association with sentences. [Solution] This electronic data conversion system 1 is provided with: an image-sentence extraction means for extracting an image, such as a photograph or illustration nonconvertible to text characters, and a sentence from electronic data in which the image and the sentence are contained; a text extraction means for performing image recognition on the extracted image and extracting a prescribed text character related to the image from the recognition result; an image-sentence correlating means for correlating the extracted image to the sentence assumed to be a sentence that corresponds to this image; and an associated storage means for storing the extracted text character in association with the correlated sentence.
