Abstract:
If the frequency of external noise is the same as or close to the excitation frequency of a touch panel, said noise cannot be removed by a bandpass filter. Also, if a touch-detection operation is limited to a short period, such as a non-addressing period, the frequency resolution and the noise-removal effect of averaging decrease, reducing the signal-to-noise ratio. This electronic device contains the following: a sensor system (101); an excitation generation unit (102) that generates an intermittent sine-wave signal and supplies same to the sensor system; and a demodulation unit (105) that demodulates the output of the sensor system, said output being an amplitude-modulated signal. The demodulation unit generates a demodulated signal (D(t)) using both the response (x1(t)) of the sensor system during the periods during which the excitation generation unit was outputting the sine wave and the response (z1(t)) of the sensor system during the periods during which the excitation generation unit was not outputting the sine wave.
