Abstract:

There are provided an electronic device, its control method, and a security program and others capable of preventing or suppressing theft of the electronic device. The electronic device includes mounting means for mounting a mobile recording medium and encrypted information write means for encrypting predetermined information by using an encryption key unique to the electronic device and writing it as encrypted information onto the recording medium. The electronic device further includes encrypted information read out means for reading out the encrypted information recorded on the recording medium when the recording medium is mounted on the mounting means, decryption means for decrypting the encrypted information by using the encryption key, and control means for setting the electronic device to a usable state if the encrypted information is decrypted.
