An electronic device and an electronic device control method are disclosed. The electronic device comprises a sensor, a display, and a processor, which controls the display so that virtual reality content corresponding to a virtual reality environment is displayed, identifies a gaze direction of a user on the basis of data acquired through the sensor, identifies, on the basis of the gaze direction, the point at which the gaze of the user is positioned on the virtual reality environment, identifies the distance between the user and the identified point in the virtual reality environment, controls the display so that a first object is displayed at a position corresponding to the identified point in the virtual reality content, identifies whether a virtual object is present in a second object positioned at the identified point in the virtual reality environment if a user command is received while the first object is displayed, and controls the virtual object on the basis of the user command if it is identified that the virtual object is present, wherein the first object and/or the second object is determined on the basis of the identified distance.
