Abstract:
In connection with an electronic device and a method for operating an electronic device according to various embodiments, the electronic device may comprise: a first communication circuit supporting short-range wireless communication; a second communication circuit supporting cellular communication; and a processor. The processor may be configured to: perform a deregistration procedure with a rich communication service (RCS) server through the cellular communication, in response to sensing a switch to a state in which data communication is performed through the short-range wireless communication, while maintaining registration with the rich communication service (RCS) server through the cellular communication; control the second communication circuit so as to disconnect from a packet data network (PDN) connected through the cellular communication; control the second communication circuit so as to perform connection with the PDN through the cellular communication while maintaining a state in which data communication can be performed through the short-range communication; control the second communication circuit so as to re-perform a registration procedure with the RCS server through the cellular communication; and control the second communication circuit so as to receive data transmitted by the RCS server through a PDN connected through the cellular communication. Various other embodiments are possible.
