Abstract:
The disclosed electronic device is provided with a processor, a first storage unit that stores firmware to be executed by the processor when the electronic device is started up and key code information to determine functions of operation buttons, a second storage unit that reads out the key code information form the first storage unit and temporarily stores the key code information in a rewritable form, and a keyboard control unit that assigns key codes to the operation buttons on the basis of the key code information stored in the second storage unit. During setup of the firmware, the processor determines whether or not the key code information stored in the second storage unit has been rewritten and, if it has been determined that the key code information has been rewritten, generates updated key code information to update the key codes assigned to the operation buttons. During setup of the firmware, the keyboard control unit updates the key codes assigned to the operation buttons on the basis of the updated key code information.
