Disclosed is an electronic fence system for networked car rental, comprising a vehicle-mounted terminal (2) and an electronic fence monitoring server (1) which are mutually connected via a wireless mobile network. The vehicle-mounted terminal (2) has a positioning function. The electronic fence monitoring server (1) has geographic information covering a taxi operating area. In the system, the electronic fence monitoring server (1) can set up an electronic fence at the boundary of a certain specific operating area of taxis using the geographic information, and the electronic fence monitoring server (1) can obtain the position of the vehicle-mounted terminal (2) via the mobile network. When the electronic fence monitoring server (1) determines that a certain vehicle-mounted terminal (2) has passed the set electronic fence according to the position of the vehicle-mounted terminal (2), the server sends a message indicating that the vehicle-mounted terminal (2) has entered or exited from the fence. The electronic fence system can provide support for billing of taxis based on the operating area and can also provide support for safety monitoring or traffic control monitoring of a driving area of the taxis.
