Abstract:
A modified shogi (Japanese chess) game, wherein, still following the rules and the methods of moving pieces in a shogi game, a shogi board has chessboard-like checkered black and white patterns and the appearances, shapes and names of shogi pieces are replaced with those of chessmen. A game program is prepared which progresses using, as the cast, characters each corresponding to each of the pieces used in a shogi game and being so set as to perform roles and movements according to individual specific roles and movements of shogi pieces. When playing a shogi game with a shogi game program executed, the movements of individual pieces in the progressing shogi game are converted into the movements of individual characters and the progress of the shogi game is converted into the progress of a matching-game-like electronic game. An electronic game device which converts, in contrast with the above, the progress of a matching-game-like electronic game into the progress of a shogi game when the above prepared game program is so executed as to convert the movements of individual characters into those of individual pieces in a shogi game.
