Abstract:
Provided is an electronic shelf label system which limits battery depletion by reducing unnecessary current consumption. The electronic shelf label system (1) is equipped with electronic shelf labels (40), a server (10), and a communication device (30). The electronic shelf labels are disposed so as to correspond to a product. The electronic shelf labels display product information pertaining to the associated product. The server stores the association information between the product information and the electronic shelf labels. The communication device transmits an infrared signal including the product information to the electronic shelf labels on the basis of the association information in the server. The electronic shelf labels are provided with a reception unit (41), a transmission unit (45b), a battery (43), a capacitor (44), a detection unit (45h), and a charging execution unit (45i). The reception unit receives the infrared signals transmitted from the communication device. When an infrared signal is received by the reception unit, the transmission unit transmits a response signal to the server. The battery serves as a power source. The capacitor stores power supplied from the battery. The detection unit detects the voltage of the capacitor. The charging execution unit charges the capacitor on the basis of the capacitor voltage detected by the detection unit.
