Abstract:
An electronic watch with a solar cell capable of obtaining photovoltaic electric
energy sufficient for driving a watch under limitation of the size or thickness
thereof, and provided with a light guide means exhibiting an efficient light
guide performance to a power generating section formed in a solar cell. The electronic
watch with a solar cell comprises an outer body containing a watch module including
a time display member, cover glass arranged fixedly on the upper surface of the
outer body, a stripe substrate having long and short sides, a solar cell having
a power generating section formed on the surface of the substrate where a light
receiving surface is provided on the surface of the power generating section,
and the short side of the power generating section is arranged substantially
perpendicularly to the surface of the time display member while surrounding
the outer edge thereof, and a light guide element arranged oppositely to the light
receiving surface at the power generating section of the solar cell between the
cover glass and the time display member. The light guide element has a curved reflective
surface opposing the time display member and projecting toward the time display
member, and is formed such that the main beam of luminous flux impinging on the
light guide element in the direction perpendicular to the time display member
is reflected off the reflective surface and then impinges on the light receiving
surface of the power generating section.
