Abstract:
An electrophoresis-use barrier material which is a barrier material used to prevent the effect of an electrolytic reaction caused in the vicinity of an electrode during electrophoresis, and which is characterized by comprising a compound capable of neutralizing acidic and (or) alkaline substances produced electrolytic reaction in the vicinity of an electrode, or a compound capable of eliminating an electrolyzed product strong in oxidizing power or reducing power; and an electrophoresis device and an sample analyzing method using it. The barrier material can prevent convection caused by gas produced by an electrolytic reaction caused during electrophoresis without using high voltage, a large amount of buffer solution, ion exchange membrane and ion exchange resin, neutralize acidic or alkaline substances produced during electrophoresis or eliminate a substance strong in oxidizing power or reducing power, and further supply constantly a support electrolyte to an electrophoresis portion.
