Abstract:
In the present invention, an electrostatic capacitance detection unit comprises a charging/discharging circuit for detecting electrostatic capacitance between an electrode and object. A processing unit controls the operation of the charging/discharging circuit. The processing unit repeatedly executes, at a designated period (T1), a first operation (O1) in which a first electrostatic capacitance (C1) is acquired that has been detected by actuating the charging/discharging circuit and a second operation (O2) in which a second electrostatic capacitance (C2) is acquired that has been detected by actuating the charging/discharging circuit after the end of the first operation (O1). The processing unit determines whether the object has been operated on the basis of the first electrostatic capacitance (C1). If a determination is made that the object has been operated, the processing unit verifies the determination on the basis of the second electrostatic capacitance (C2). The amount of time (T2) between the start of the first operation and the start of the second operation is set such that expected environmental noise will make the difference between the first electrostatic capacitance (C1) and second electrostatic capacitance (C2) greater than or equal to a designated threshold within the amount of time (T2).
