Abstract:

Disclosed is an electrostatic smoker, containing: a chamber (11, 11', 11", 11"') with a first opening (17, 17') and a second opening (21, 21') for a treatment medium to flow through said chamber along a flow path; a treatment chamber (31) in the flow path inside the chamber (11, 11', 11", 11"'), said treatment chamber being designed to accommodate feedstock (13); a smoke generator (60) for enriching the feedstock with smoke; a guiding system (45, 70) for conveying the treatment medium into the chamber (11, 11', 11", 11"') and out of the chamber (11, 11', 11", 11"'); and a first electrode (23, 23"'), in particular a first ionizing unit (22), for ionizing the treatment medium. According to the invention, the guiding system is equipped with a circulatory channel (72, 55) which connects the first opening (17, 17') to the second opening (21, 21') and said circulatory channel (72, 55) is designed such that the treatment medium, once it has passed through the treatment chamber (31), can be recirculated to the treatment chamber via said circulatory channel for at least one further passage of the treatment chamber (31). Also disclosed is an electrostatic smoking method which comprises the step of circulating the treatment medium one or more times from the treatment chamber via a circulatory channel back into the treatment chamber and across the surface of the feedstock, optionally while activating at least one ionizing electrode.
