Abstract:
Provided is an element that can reduce parasitic oscillations. The present invention provides an element that is used for oscillation or resonance of terahertz waves, wherein the element has a resonance unit 108 having: a first conductor 102; a second conductor 105; a dielectric substance 104 disposed between the first conductor and the second conductor; and a first negative resistance element 101a and a second negative resistance element 101b that are connected in parallel to each other between the first conductor and the second conductor, a bias circuit 120 for supplying a bias voltage to each of the first negative resistance element and second negative resistance element, and a line 103 for connecting the bias circuit and the resonance unit. The element is configured so that mutual injection locking of positive phase between the first negative resistance element and the second negative resistance element is unstable and so that mutual injection locking of opposite phase between the first negative resistance element and the second negative resistance element is stable.
