Abstract:
An elevator apparatus wherein a car (5) and a balance weight (6) are suspended by a main rope (4). The driving force from a driving device (31) is transmitted to the balance weight (6) through a driving rope (29). The lifting and lowering of the balance weight (6) causes the lifting and lowering of the car (5). The driving rope (29) is entrained around a plurality of balance−weight−associated sheaves (21−24) mounted on the balance weight (6), upper−shaft−region−associated sheaves (25, 26) disposed in the upper region of a shaft (1), and lower−shaft region−associated sheaves (27, 28) disposed in the lower region of the shaft (1). All of the weight−associated sheaves (21−24) are coaxially disposed in the upper region of the balance weight (6).
