Abstract:
An elevator apparatus wherein drive devices having drive sheaves are installed at the upper part of a hoistway. A return pulley is installed at the upper part of the hoistway. A car and balance weights are suspended by first and second main ropes. The first main rope comprises a first car side end part connected to the car on the first side surface side and a first balance weight side end part connected to the balance weight and wound on the drive sheave. The second main rope comprises a second car side end part connected to the car on the second side surface side and a second balance weight side end part connected to the balance weight and wound on the drive sheave and the return pulley.
