Abstract:
An elevator apparatus where a main rope for suspending an elevator car in an elevator shaft is reeved on pulleys. A drive section is provided on a drive pulley which is any one of the pulleys, and the car is lifted and lowered through the main rope by rotating the drive pulley. A braking section is provided on a braking pulley which is any one of the pulleys except the drive pulley. The travel of the car is braked through the main rope by braking the rotation of the braking pulley.
