Abstract:
An elevator apparatus, wherein a car and a balance weight are lifted by a plurality of hoists. Each of these hoists comprises a drive sheave, a motor rotating the drive sheave, and a hoist body having a hoist brake which brakes the rotation of the drive sheave. On at least either of the car and the balance weight, a lifting body-mounted brake device is mounted for urgently stopping the car under the conditions different from those under which an emergency stop device stops the car.
